Venice, Louisiana is America’s most iconic and productive fishing destination. Our inshore fishing trips are a six to eight-hour journey through the Mississippi Delta’s winding wetlands aboard our 25 foot Majek powered by a 300 HP Yamaha. We’ll safely cruise through bending bayous and marshy waters to provide you the necessary opportunity to catch a variety of targeted species such as Redfish, Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, and Sheepshead.
All tackle and supplies will be provided.

Half Day of Duck Hunting & Half Day of Inshore Fishing
We’ve organized the total blast and cast experience and would be delighted to outfit your next full-day trip in Venice, Louisiana. Our Blast and Cast Package includes an early morning (before sunrise) duck hunt and ends with rod bending and drag screaming action aboard our inshore fishing charter. We aim to limit out with a mixed bag of birds and return to camp for a wholesome breakfast and a change of clothes around 9:30 am.
The inshore shallow water fishing portion usually begins around 12:00 pm and will end at sunset. Amid the still and marshy lowlands, you will be casting for Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, and other trophy species. The boats will be fully equipped with the necessary rods, reels, baits, and ice. You are also welcome to bring your own rods if you prefer.

Venice is home to a wide variety of vibrant bird habitats that migrate South during the winter months. The species that we have maintained a specialized focus on are the Pintail, Gadwall, Teal, Widgeon, Canvasback, Redhead, and Scaup.
We use surface drive mud boats to get us to and from the marinas and back to the hunting ground.

I am Captain Zachary Ragas and I am the owner and guide of Southern Adventures, a three-tiered hunting and guiding service, located in Venice, Louisiana. As a Venice native and local graduate of South Plaquemines High School, the Mississippi River Delta flows close to my bones. The Delta is my natural habitat and sacred land that my wife and four young boys still call home.
Upon my high school graduation in 2012, I kickstarted a local duck hunting business which has gradually merged into a strategic approach to duck, alligator, and inshore fishing guide services. Southern Adventures is a daily practice, reflective journey, and human experiment in guiding the landmasses and deep waters that have built the finest outdoor experiences.
Venice remains the beloved home for my outfit because of its unusually rich ecology, wild coastal landscapes, and welcoming yet convenient culture. The winding waterways of the Mississippi Delta have forged a variety of bayous and shallow marshes that are unique to these wetlands and continue to provide vital protection for its dense wildlife. Venice is befittingly named The Fishing Capital of The World and Sportsman’s Paradise, because where else you can hunt waterfowl, alligators, and inshore fish in just one trip. This intensely diverse region provides actionable opportunities and both consistent and persistent success for our clients.
Our trips are more than a hunt or fishing trip, it’s a biting experience and real opportunity to re-connect and learn specific knowledge about the Mississippi Delta from a guide who has grown up alongside its land and water.
